Stubborn pain,
finally shifting.

Focused acoustic waves stimulate blood flow and tissue repair in tendons and muscles that have stopped healing on their own. Non-invasive, drug-free and quick.

With Tolly Gibbons No GP referral required
Why shockwave

Reduces pain. Accelerates healing.

Shockwave therapy sends focused acoustic pulses into the injured area. It kick-starts blood flow and tissue repair, often exactly what a stubborn, stuck injury needs to finally start healing.

Not all shockwave machines are the same. Tolly runs every session on a clinical-grade system, and always assesses whether shockwave is the right approach for your injury before treating.

Benefits

Short sessions

Treatment takes just 5–10 minutes of focused, hands-on application.

An alternative to ongoing pain medication for stubborn injuries.

Common conditions

Where shockwave
makes the difference.

Shockwave is most effective for long-standing tendon and soft-tissue injuries that have not responded to rest or other treatment.

01

Plantar fasciitis & heel pain

Persistent under-foot and heel pain that has not settled with rest alone.

02

Achilles & tendon pain

Chronic tendinopathy, including calcifications that form within tendons.

03

Tennis & golfer's elbow

Long-standing elbow, wrist, hand and finger pain, including carpal tunnel.

04

Shoulder tendon pain

Rotator cuff irritation and calcific tendinitis limiting overhead movement.

05

Shin splints (MTSS)

Medial tibial stress syndrome and other repetitive loading injuries.

06

Trigger points & muscle pain

Deep muscle tension treated with the vibrating massage applicator.

Your questions answered

What a session
actually involves.

Most people are surprised at how quick it is. Here is exactly what to expect from your appointment.

01

We find the source

Tolly locates the painful areas through palpation, marks them, and applies ultrasound gel.

02

The treatment

Shockwave impulses are delivered with a hand-piece for 5–10 minutes. It feels uncomfortable rather than painful, and usually eases within the first minute or two. Intensity is adjusted for you.

03

Your recovery

Sessions are repeated weekly, typically 3–5 times. Some people feel immediate relief, while the strongest results build over the following 12 weeks.

Shockwave is well tolerated by most people. It can be unpleasant, and we will work with you to keep it comfortable. The most common after-effects are mild local bruising and skin redness.
